OWNER/COACH

Owner Bryan Pitcairn has been CrossFitting for seven years, and focuses on scaling and pacing with beginner athletes. He’s a dedicated dad who enjoys raising five-year-old Maddy and three-year-old Max. "I love that they get to come to the gym and do exercises with me," he says. "In terms of our fantastic members, I love seeing their excitement when they work hard to hit a personal record (PR). I love it when people actually use CrossFit to completely change their lives and how they view what it means to be fit and happy."

Bryan earned 10 Varsity letters in four different sports in high school. In college, he got into recreational running and ran six full marathons. "The summer of my sophomore year, I biked for Habitat for Humanity 4,000 miles from Jacksonville, FL to San Francisco, California," he says. "I compete in obstacle course races and have completed the World’s Toughest Mudder in Las Vegas." Currently, he enjoys competing in local CrossFit competitions.

"When I got married and moved to Philadelphia my wife and I decided to open our own box in Huntingdon Valley. We wanted the pride that comes with owning a small business and we knew that we would be willing to work hard at it. It has given us many great memories and stories from the last four years of this experience!"

COACH

Beth Karle

COACH

Coach Beth walked through the doors of Crossfit Huntingdon Valley 5 years ago and has been dedicated to Crossfit ever since. Beth played competitive sports her whole life and was looking for something to keep her active during college.

“Crossfit is great because you only compete with yourself but still feel part of a team”.

She has a passion for helping others reach their highest potential in health and fitness by implementing mobility techniques, scaling options, and every day healthy habits. She also knows the value of great nutritional habits and knows that if you fuel yourself well outside the gym, you’ll perform well inside the gym.

When not in the gym, you can find Beth cooking up a new healthy meal, hiking with her dog, spending time with family or traveling.

Rose DelMonte

COACH

Rose was first introduced to CrossFit in 2012 by her brother who had recently returned from a deployment. She instantly excelled in the sport and began competing in amateur competitions in both CrossFit and weightlifting.

She began coaching in 2015 and instantly fell in love with it. Aided by a military background, Rose commands each class with an air of discipline and confidence that she hopes to instill in each of her clients. She motivates those in her care with a high level of integrity for form, performance, and sportsmanship. Those who take her class look forward to her critiques of their form and the loud encouragement to “pick that bar up”.

One of Rose’s favorite quotes comes from her Dive Motivator, Chief Black, who always told her, “Slow is smooth, smooth is fast”.

Rose enjoys spending most of her free time either with family or exploring the great outdoors. Her personal training regime includes triathalons, marathons, crossfit, tactical military, and Muay Thai.  She is looking forward to reaching goals such as furthering her education, her military career, and coaching career all while maintaining her overall functional fitness and competitive nature.

Elizabeth Eisenhart

COACH

Elizabeth Eisenhart

COACH

Elizabeth started at Crossfit Huntingdon Valley in 2016 with the Girls Who Lift Program.

Playing competitive sports in her childhood led to years of sprint triathlons and half marathons in her 20s.  She was motivated to try something other than cardio after becoming a mom and wanting to feel strong.

"I had postpartum stuff, but probably more so I needed the physical affirmation of strength to correlate to the mental". And it did!  Having never picked up a barbell or done a pullup in her life, she swallowed her fears and embraced the challenge.

"I find joy in the process," she explains.  "Its about seeing first hand what your body is capable of and owning it, coming in on the days when you don't want to, being open to nutritional changes, and watching as small choices become opportunities for big change."

Outside of Crossfit Elizabeth enjoys hanging with her girl squad - daughters Bridget, Brinley, and Bethany.  She also loves trail running with her husband is Philadelphia's beautiful Wissahickon and Penny Pack Parks.  Other interests include: nutrition, cooking, food prep, reality TV, making friends, and helping others.

Rick Akey

COACH

Rick Akey

COACH

Coach Rick Akey has been CrossFitting for three years, and is passionate about continuous improvement and new experiences. "I love seeing the remarkable progress from the first day someone walks in nervous, searching for confidence, perhaps a little overwhelmed," he says. "Each day they get better, more mobile, more fit, and stronger in both body and mind."

A multi-sport athlete in high school, Rick earned Honorable Mention All-Catholic in Football. He played Division 3 Football at Marietta College, and later in life spent 10 years officiating youth football, basketball, and baseball. In 2006, he ran in the Philadelphia Marathon.

What brought him to coaching? "I was a regular globo gym member but desperately needed something new," he says. "I tried CrossFit and immediately fell in love with it. After a couple of years as a CrossFit athlete, I wanted to learn more, get better at competitions, and help the box owners and members. I decided that getting my L1 certification was the best way to do that."

When he’s not CrossFitting, he’s working. "In my other life, I design cloud computing solutions designed to bridge technology and business." You may also find him on a road trip riding his 2011 Harley Davidson, working on home improvement projects, or playing with his two rescue dogs.

COACH

Jenny Bleeker

COACH

Coach Jenny Bleeker specializes in personal training, coaching and group fitness.

Jenny’s coaching philosophy is simple: "Coaching is the art of guiding, motivating and training others to be a better version of themselves, through the good times and the bad and all the failures and accomplishments. I get to improve the way members move, lessen their chance for injury, and help them live their life better. Most of all, it is showing them what they are truly capable of. This is EXACTLY why I love coaching."

A black belt, Jennifer spends as much time with her family as possible when not CrossFitting or coaching. Obstacle Course Racing is another one of her passions. Her favorite inspirational quote comes from Abraham Lincoln: "And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years."
